IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VISITORS TO KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK AND GUESTS TRAVELLING TO KARIJINI ECO RETREAT (UPDATED FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2012)

KARIJINI ECO RETREAT

Guests are advised that Karijini Eco Retreat remains closed until further notice while roads and conditions are assessed. Please note that many gorges and recreation areas within the park also remain closed with the exception of those detailed below:

KARIJINI

DEC advises that subject to further rainfall, the following areas only will be open to the public from Saturday 21 January 2012:

•Banjima Drive - eastern sealed road section only
•Dales Camping Area
•Dales Day use area
•Three-ways Lookout
•Circular Pool and Fortescue Falls
•Gorge Rim Walk (Callitris Track)
The Dales Gorge track between Circular Pool and Fortescue Falls remains closed due to unstable trees and rocks in the gorge.

Other areas remain closed until further notice, pending safety inspections and road repairs. Visitors are urged to observe all safety signs and road closed signs.

MILLSTREAM CHICHESTER

The level of the Fortescue River is declining, however the Millstream precinct is expected to remain closed until further notice.

Python Pool is open to the public.

LOW SEASON WEATHER - 1ST NOVEMBER 2011 TO 31ST MARCH 2012

During the summer period daytime temperatures can exceed 45 degrees celcius! Please note that Eco Tents have natural ventilation only and are not air-conditioned.

Our on-site Reception and bar area is air-conditioned.

 LOW SEASON INFORMATION FOR THE PERIOD 1st NOVEMBER 2011 TO 31st MARCH 2012

**50% OFF ROOM ONLY RATE**

During the above dates The Karijini Eco Retreat operates in Low Season mode and therefore has limited availability in the Eco tents for those wishing to visit during this period.

The nightly rate is $149.50 per couple based on room only and represents a fantastic saving of 50% off the usual rate (No further discounts apply). A small number of tents suitable for families are available (sleeping 3 or 4 people – additional bed is a single or bunk bed) and extra guests are charged $49 per person per night (First child up to 12 years old stays free when sharing with 2 adults).

Campgrounds will remain open at a rate of $30.00 per unpowered site subject to weather conditions. (Price based on 2 adults – Additional adults sharing will incur a charge of $10 per person per night and under 16’s stay free when travelling with 2 adults).

PLEASE TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS AND ADVICE BEFORE BOOKING:

• Temperatures at Karijini during this period can reach in excess of 45 degrees Celsius on a daily basis
• The Eco Tents are NOT air-conditioned and have natural ventilation only
• The Alfresco restaurant will operate during this time, opening for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A selection of menu items will be available during this time (subject to availability) Dinner reservations are essential and last orders are at 6pm daily

• Guest barbecue facilities will also be available adjacent to the Alfresco restaurant
• Reception opening hours will be 7am – 10am and 1pm - 7pm
• Bar and kiosk opening times will coincide with Reception hours
• Supplies such as breakfast packs, barbecue packs, ice, ice creams, snacks and beverages will be subject to availability
• We strongly advise that guests arrive in either 4WD or AWD vehicles
• We highly recommend the use of insect repellant
• There will be no Tour Operator services at the Karijini Eco Retreat or in the National Park during this period
• For your own convenience and safety it is advisable that you check all weather and road conditions before your arrival and (if visiting the gorges) please ensure that in the event of adverse weather conditions you take appropriate steps to leave the gorges immediately
• Department of Environment & Conservation (DEC) reserves the right to close roads within the National Park for safety reasons and/or due to adverse weather conditions
